The Sciences Po School of Communication , created in September 2007, aims to meet a variety of needs in the communication and media fields:
- By seeking to evenly balance the attainment of theoretical and practical knowledge
- By securing a place for communication in the sciences (social sciences, exact sciences, and technology), as well as in the business and professional arenas (where creativity and innovation are harnessed for economic development)
- By encouraging international and multicultural perspectives
The school is designed for students working toward careers across the communication field – in consulting firms, companies or institutions, and in traditional media and new media.
The Masters program prepares students to assume high-level hands-on roles after graduation, within companies and organizations that offer many opportunities for advancement . |
Curriculum
The School of Communication offers:
- Professional connections : Media executives from around the world make up nearly 80 percent of the faculty.
- Cutting-edge technology : Each class incorporates digital and new media components, and the school has the use of its own multimedia classroom.
- An international learning environment : The school boasts a diverse student body, a curriculum with a global focus, and partnerships with international companies.
Students benefit from:
- Academic instruction and practical skills

- Long-term internships with companies for second-year Masters students
Coursework includes:
- Instruction in how media and communication companies function (financial and legal aspects, marketing, management, etc.)
- Instruction in the tools and methods used by communication professionals (strategy, media and new media, opinion polls, etc.)
- Social science workshops with researchers and other communication professionals
- Additional workshops on topics such as public speaking and image analysis
The program offers students an in-depth look at the professional world, through contact with renowned figures in the field, case studies, group projects, and, most significantly, a long-term internship during the second year.
The school adheres to a decidedly international outlook. A requisite skill in the communication field, the English language figures prominently in the curriculum. Students take a trip to an English-speaking country and take professional courses in English.

Masters degree sequence
The Masters degree program encourages students to build on the skills they develop at each step.
First year:
The first year focuses on basic concepts. Students gain a solid understanding of the socioeconomic environment that is shaping the communication field today, and the nuts and bolts of a communication career.
Second year:
In the second year, students put their knowledge into practice and prepare to enter the job market, mainly through an internship.
